My Approach to Wellness
I believe in the importance of addressing the mind, body, and soul when helping individuals with their mental health. I recognize that trauma can be held in the body and that simply focusing on calming the mind may not be enough to achieve the desired results, such as reduced anxiety or depression. Therefore, I take a holistic approach, considering various factors such as breathing exercises, individualized methods, nutrition, self-care, and physical activity to meet each person's unique needs.
The underlying philosophy of my therapeutic approach emphasizes the transformative potential of personal development. I understand that therapy can not only sharpen one’s communication but also fortify relationships, elevate stress-coping mechanisms, enrich parental insights, and foster a healthier family environment.
Recognizing the inevitability of life’s intricate challenges, I position myself as more than a counselor; I act as a guide, navigating individuals through life's mazes. My methodology underscores the importance of a tranquil mind, laying the foundation for both growth and healing. By furnishing clients with essential tools and coping strategies, I empower individuals to address and overcome their life challenges.
My Commitment to Quality Care
I believe self-care is a top priority. After each therapy session, I take time to reflect on my experiences. I also constantly keep up to date with different techniques that work for different people. My goal is not to work with any single individual for more than a year, as I believe in empowering my clients with the tools they need to overcome their challenges on their own.
Holding the LGPC credential, I bring certified expertise in the realm of counseling with a specialized focus on Trauma, PTSD, Grief, and Peer Relationships. I understand the challenges faced by many and prioritize the safety and confidentiality of my clients, creating a sanctuary where they can explore their issues without fear of judgment. My extensive training and vast experience in trauma care ensure that I am well-equipped to handle intricate and sensitive issues, reinforcing my unwavering commitment to delivering quality care.
The Most Gratifying Part of My Job
I find it most gratifying when I've been able to help someone recognize that they have control over their life. It means they can change their situation and find fulfillment. The transformative journey of seeing individuals navigate through life's challenges and emerge stronger, more enlightened, and ready to take on the world is the cornerstone of my professional joy.
In the Community
I belong to an exercise group, mostly consisting of women, where we provide support to each other. I also work with the Center for Abused Persons in Charles County and conduct annual events surrounding breast cancer and domestic violence. As a former educator, I also provided resources for students who possibly couldn't afford a mental health counselor.
